The 2012 Summer Olympic Games, officially the Games of the XXX Olympiad, began in London, United Kingdom, on 27 July and will continue until 12 August 2012.

The evolution of the Olympic Movement during the 20th and 21st centuries has resulted in several changes to the Olympic Games. The most recent one being the ever growing popularity of jeans and its uses in the sport itself! Who would have thought that the jeans fabric would be part of such a world-wide sporting event? Right from wearing jeans to using them in a sport, the jeans fabric has certainly got an international acclaim. Even the Duchess of Cambridge, Kate Middleton sported bright blue jeans in welcoming the Olympic Games to her kingdom! Way to go casual and sporty!

The Hipster Olympics have already made history. The second annual games were held in Berlin on July 21, 2012 to determine just who was cool enough (and who didn't really care enough) to be crowned the city's biggest hipster. Hipsters are a subculture of men and women typically in their 20's and 30's that value independent thinking, counter-culture, progressive politics, an appreciation of art and indie-rock, creativity, intelligence, and witty banter. Like the Olympics, competitors of the games participated in sporting events. The Hipster Olympics are also held in Brooklyn and London. Unlike the actual Olympics, these games did not require muscle, years of preparation, or even much sweat.

There was the skinny-jeans tug of war, the horn-rimmed glasses throw, and the confetti toss. Other events included a cloth-tote sack race (no hipster would be caught without one), a bubble tea drinking event (that involved sucking candies through the thick straws), record spinning, and lots of other unconventional activities, turned into sport. The Shrinking Jeans Olympics have organised live awards ceremony on twitter http://twitter.com/shrinkingjeans/ on Thursday, August 9th. There will be 26 Events, 78 Medals, 1 Ultimate Shrinking Olympian. Will you be the Ultimate Shrinking Olympian? This medal and prize will be awarded to the individual who accumulates the most points during the 2011 Olympics. Each gold medal is worth 4 points, silver medal is worth 3 points, and the bronze medal is worth 2 points, and participation in the event is worth 1 point. Its ten day marathon challenges, which is a run or walk a marathon. The other shrinking jeans Olympics include challenges like running, biking, rowing, hula hoop (That’s right. You’ve got to swing your hips!), relay, crunches, swimming, push-ups, and many more! The Hipster Olympics Are A Real Thing (& There's A Skinny Jeans Tug-Of-War!) Dozens of participants battled it out for the coveted title of “Hipster of the Year 2012” over the weekend, in ironic events such as jute bag jumping, the Club Mate crate race and, most interesting of all, “The skinny jeans fighting!”, which pit hipsters against each other to see who could pull a pair of denim over the designated line first. An innovative one, I must say 

There, you see, the denim fabric could make just more than wearing jeans!
